Nexum 40 mg IV Injection – Fast-Acting Proton Pump Inhibitor

Nexum 40 mg IV Injection contains esomeprazole sodium in a lyophilized form, designed for intravenous use when oral administration is not feasible. It rapidly reduces gastric acid secretion, making it ideal for acute acid-related conditions, such as erosive esophagitis or to prevent stress ulcers in hospitalized patients.

  5. Discard any unused solution after 12 hours at room temperature.

Q: What is this injection used for?
A: It’s used for acid-related gastrointestinal issues in patients who cannot take oral PPIs.

Q: How quickly does it work?
A: Because it’s given IV, acid suppression starts faster than with oral medications.

Q: Can I use it long-term?
A: It's generally for hospital or short-term use — long-term IV use requires medical supervision.

Q: What are common side effects?
A: Possible side effects include headache, nausea, diarrhea, or injection-site reactions.

Q: Is dose adjustment needed for liver problems?
A: Yes — in severe liver impairment, dosing needs special consideration.

Active: Esomeprazole sodium, 40 mg per vial.
Excipients: Stabilizing salts and buffering agents (as per the product’s prescribing information).
