Xeticam XR 1 g Tablet – Once‑Daily Antiepileptic for Broad‑Spectrum Seizures

Xeticam XR 1 g (1000 mg) is an extended‑release film‑coated tablet formulation of Levetiracetam manufactured by Getz Pharma in Pakistan.  Levetiracetam is an antiepileptic drug used as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of partial‑onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and primary generalized tonic‑clonic seizures in adults and children. This XR (extended release) version allows once‑daily dosing, promoting easier adherence compared to multiple daily doses.
Because of its favourable pharmacokinetics (close to 100% bioavailability, minimal liver metabolism) and broad spectrum of activity, levetiracetam is a valuable option when monotherapy is insufficient.

  • Once‑daily dosing simplifies treatment schedule and may improve adherence.
  • Broad spectrum antiepileptic activity across seizure types.
  • Minimal liver metabolism means fewer drug‑drug interactions unique to cytochrome systems.
  • Well‑tolerated overall, with robust clinical data support.
  • Available locally from Getz Pharma in Pakistan — easier access.

  1. Take one 1 g tablet once daily, at the same time each day, or as directed by the neurologist.
  2. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water; do not crush or chew.
  3. It may be taken with or without food.
  4. Continue treatment even if seizures stop and you feel better; do not discontinue without physician consultation.
  5. If you miss a dose and it’s close to the time for the next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double‑dose
