Daplyza 5 mg Tablet – Efficient Blood Sugar Regulation

Daplyza 5 mg tablet contains dapagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. By blocking SGLT2 in the kidneys, it lowers blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes by increasing glucose excretion through urine.
It’s indicated for glycemic control, plus it offers cardiovascular and renal protection: reducing hospitalization for heart failure and slowing kidney decline in high-risk patients.

  • Lowers blood sugar by promoting urinary glucose excretion
  • Reduces risk of hospitalization for heart failure in Type 2 diabetes
  • Slows kidney disease progression in patients at risk
  • Once-a-day dosing for convenience
  • Helps with modest weight loss due to glucose loss in urine

  1. Take one 5 mg tablet once daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider.
  2. You may take it with or without food, but try to take it at the same time each day for consistency.
  3. Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water — do not chew or crush
  4. It’s meant to be used as part of a lifestyle plan — diet, exercise, and other medications should be maintained.
  5. Do not stop taking this medicine suddenly. Consult your doctor before making any changes.

Q1: What is Daplyza 5 mg used for?
A1: It’s used for type 2 diabetes to improve blood sugar control when combined with diet and exercise.

Q2: Can it protect my heart or kidneys?
A2: Yes. Besides lowering glucose, Daplyza may reduce the risk of heart failure hospitalization and slow kidney damage in some patients.

Q3: What are common side effects?
A3: Increased urination, thirst, urinary tract infections, and genital fungal infections are common.

Q4: Do I need to check my kidneys before starting?
A4: Yes — your doctor should assess your eGFR before you start, because kidney function influences both safety and dose.

Q5: Is it safe for people with very poor kidney function?
A5: It’s not recommended for patients on dialysis or with severe kidney impairment.

Dapagliflozin (as dapagliflozin propanediol monohydrate) — 5 mg per tablet.
Inactive excipients to form the film-coated tablet.

  • Use only under a physician’s prescription.
  • Check kidney function (eGFR) before starting, because renal status affects efficacy and safety.
  • Ensure you are well-hydrated — dapagliflozin can cause volume depletion due to increased urination.
  • Be alert for urinary tract infections or genital infections, which are more likely with SGLT2 inhibitors.
  • Avoid in severe renal impairment or in patients on dialysis.
  • Store tablets at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
