Rapid Relief for Mouth Ulcers & Oral Inflammation

The Kenalog in Orabase Dental Paste (0.1% Triamcinolone Acetonide) is a specially formulated corticosteroid adhesive paste that adheres to mucous-membrane surfaces inside the mouth (cheeks, gums, lips) to relieve pain, swelling and discomfort caused by traumatic ulcers, inflammatory lesions or denture irritation.
The paste creates a protective film over the sore area, reducing rubbing from food or dental appliances, while the active steroid helps decrease inflammation and accelerate healing.

  • Provides targeted relief for painful or inflamed mouth sores, speeding healing and reducing discomfort.
  • Adhesive film forms a protective barrier to reduce irritation from food, dentures or dental braces.
  • Easy to apply with minimal mess inside the mouth and minimal systemic absorption when used correctly.
  • Short-term use minimises risk of systemic side-effects of corticosteroids.
  • Suitable for use in adult dental and oral-mucosal treatment settings under professional supervision.

  1. Wash and dry your hands. Dry the affected area inside your mouth before applying.
  2. Use the tube tip to dab a small amount (about 6 mm in diameter) onto the sore area—do not rub in. A smooth, slippery film will form.
  3. Apply the paste after meals and at bedtime, typically 2–3 times daily, or as directed by your dentist.
  4. Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after application to allow film formation.
  5. Continue use until the symptom resolves; if no improvement within one week, discontinue and seek professional advice.

1. What conditions does this paste treat?
It relieves ulcerative or inflammatory lesions inside the mouth—such as traumatic ulcers, denture sore spots or lichen planus-type mucosal irritations.

2. How long will it take to see results?
Many users experience relief in pain and swelling within a few days; if there’s no noticeable improvement within 7–14 days, further evaluation is needed.

3. Can I use other oral treatments simultaneously (e.g., antiseptic mouthwash)?
Yes, but coordinate with your dentist: avoid washing away the paste film prematurely and maintain the protective barrier effect.

4. Are there common side-effects?
Possible side-effects include local burning, itching, irritation or dryness at the application site. Rarely, systemic corticosteroid effects may occur with prolonged use.

5. Can children use this product?
Yes under supervision, but caution is required because systemic absorption in pediatrics may lead to HPA-axis suppression if used over large areas or for extended periods.

Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% (1 mg/g), Gelatin, Pectin, Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, Plastibase® (plasticised hydrocarbon gel) base.

  • Keep the tube tightly closed, store at room temperature in a cool, dry place away from children.
