Zetro 250 mg Tablet – Broad-Spectrum Macrolide Antibiotic

Zetro 250 mg Tablet contains azithromycin dihydrate, a macrolide antibiotic used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis, stopping the growth and spread of bacteria. Zetro is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and other infections where susceptible bacteria are involved.

  • Broad antibacterial coverage for many common bacterial infections
  • Once-daily dosing makes it convenient
  • Well-established safety and effectiveness history
  • Good tissue penetration — effective in respiratory and soft tissue infections
  • Helps shorten the course of treatment vs some older antibiotics

  1. Take one 250 mg tablet once daily, or as prescribed by your healthcare provider.
  2. You can take it with or without food
  3. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not split or crush it.
  4. Maintain consistent daily dosing — try to take it at the same time each day.
  5. If you forget a dose and it's not too close to the next dose, take it as soon as you remember. Do not double up.

Q: What infections is Zetro used for?

Q: Can I stop taking it when symptoms go away?

A: Yes — nausea, diarrhea, abdominal pain, and headaches are common.

Q: Is it safe during pregnancy?
A: Use only if clearly needed; consult your doctor before taking it.

Q: Can it interact with other medications?
A: Yes — particularly with medications that affect heart rhythm (QT prolongation).

Inactive: Various excipients as listed in the package leaflet.

  • Only use with a valid prescription — misuse can lead to antibiotic resistance.
  • Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems before taking this drug.
  • Be careful if you have a known prolonged QT interval or are on other QT-prolonging medications.
  • Use cautiously in patients with myasthenia gravis; azithromycin may worsen muscle weakness.
  • Complete the full course even if symptoms improve early — stopping early may not fully eradicate the infection.
