Amclav Plus 457 mg/5 ml Syrup – Potent Broad-Spectrum Antibiotic

Amclav Plus Syrup is a high-strength oral suspension that combines amoxicillin and clavulanic acid (co-amoxiclav) to treat a variety of bacterial infections. This 457 mg/5 ml formulation is especially useful when a stronger dose is needed, such as in more severe infections or in cases where frequent dosing is required.

It’s manufactured by Getz Pharma in Pakistan and comes in a 70 ml bottle. The suspension is given with a measuring device to ensure precise dosing, and should be shaken well before each use to maintain a uniform mixture.

  • Treats a broad spectrum of bacterial infections
  • Highly effective due to the combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid
  • Strong, concentrated dose in liquid form
  • Precise dosing possible with measuring device
  • Useful for patients who cannot swallow tablets

  1. Shake the bottle well before each dose to ensure the medicine is properly mixed.
  2. Use the provided measuring spoon or cup to measure the exact prescribed amount.
  3. Take the suspension orally, preferably with or right after a meal to reduce stomach upset.
  4. Typically dosed twice daily, or as directed by your healthcare provider depending on the infection.
  5. Continue taking the full course as prescribed, even if symptoms improve before the medicine is finished.

Q1: Can children use Amclav Plus Syrup?
A1: Yes — this suspension is often used in pediatric patients, with doses adjusted based on weight and type of infection.

Q2: What infections does this syrup treat?
A2: It’s used for respiratory tract infections (like bronchitis and pneumonia), urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and ear, nose & throat infections.

Q3: Will it upset my stomach?
A3: It may cause mild stomach issues (diarrhoea, nausea) — taking it with food helps reduce this risk.

Q4: Are there any serious side effects?
A4: Rare but possible side effects include liver problems (like jaundice), severe skin reactions, or allergic responses.

Q5: Can I stop early if I feel better?
A5: No — you should finish the entire course as prescribed to make sure the infection is fully treated and to avoid antibiotic resistance.

Amoxicillin Trihydrate (equivalent to 400 mg amoxicillin per 5 ml), Potassium Clavulanate (equivalent to 57 mg clavulanic acid per 5 ml), flavouring agents, preservatives, suspension base.

  • Do not use if you or the patient is allergic to penicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics.
  • Use with caution in patients with liver dysfunction or a history of cholestatic jaundice.
  • Maintain sufficient hydration during use to minimize the risk of kidney-related side effects.
  • Monitor for gastrointestinal effects (diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting) and allergic reactions (rash).
  • Complete the entire course, even if symptoms improve, to reduce the risk of antibiotic resistance.
  • Store in a cool, dry place and keep the bottle tightly closed.
